Van Appeal - success
The rescued cats and dogs of Eden Animal
Rescue will be travelling in style from now
on following a hugely successful campaign
to provide a purpose built animal transportation vehicle.
A meeting of the Hardendale Centre committee back in June 2010 highlighted the need for a specialised vehicle as the current method of transporting these animals was making it very difficult to stop the spread of disease and infection which can harbour in the fabric of seats and carpets of cars belonging to the volunteers.
Tricia Graham, Animal Administrator, explains, “Our volunteers have been great down the years, ferrying animals around from the vets to the centre etc, but most of them have dogs and cats of their own and it was not ideal that they were all sharing the same vehicles. The new van has a fully washable compartment with side doors to aid easy loading of animal crates and baskets, and it will also be used by the shop, for trade shows, moving rubbish etc – it’s going to be really invaluable going forward.”.
EAR members were asked to dig deep to fund this all-important addition to the charity’s range of equipment and they have responded marvellously well along with tremendous support from the GK Group’s Lillyhall branch in Workington for the supply of the van and Alexander McAuly of ALX SIGNS Ltd, Carlisle, for the free supply of the vehicle signage.
